Citing renovations in Plainville, Hays and New York, Renovation Style magazine details how Kansas native, Chuck Comeau, progressed from petroleum geology to co-founding one of the top five luxury home-furnishing firms in the nation as well as Gella’s Diner & Lb. Brewing Co. And how in the process, Comeau began re-storing properties for the rural economic development of his hometown and neighboring communities.

In the Spring 2007 feature entitled “Making a Difference”, writer Sally Finder-Koziol describes how Comeau is giving old buildings new glory. Through design Comeau is making the buildings prime locations not only for his businesses but the businesses of other Kansas entrepreneurs.

While most people don’t equate Hays, Kan. with fine shopping, they should according to Erika Kotite, Editor-at-Large for Romantic Homes magazine. In the October 2006 issue, Kotite cites eight downtown Hays businesses, including Gella's Diner & Lb. Brewing Co., for turning Kansas into more of a destination spot.

Kotite credits Hays for embracing a widening cadre of artists and craftspeople to create the gourmet eateries, upscale retail shops, and art and graphic design studios that line Hays’ Main Street today.

To quote two writers from All About Beer magazine, Gella’s Diner & Lb. Brewing Co. has put Hays on the “craft-beer map”. Paul Ruschmann and Maryanne Nasiatka included Hays’ downtown microbrewery and restaurant in their article for the May issue. Touted as a “first-class” brewpub, the writers learned of Gella’s Diner & Lb. Brewing Co. while attending the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

Just days before opening Gella’s Diner & Lb. Brewing Co., Kansas City Star reporter, Stacy Downs, previewed the food and brews for her article “Plainsman Crafts A Simple, Sublime Vision”. The article was picked up by a national wire service and appeared in over 20 metropolitan papers across the nation.
